Battersea Park Races
We organise a series of races in Battersea Park SW11 throughout the year, in conjunction with Run and Become.
Summer (or wishful thinking in May) sees the start of our popular Monday night runs, these are short (max 5K) starting at 7pm, perfect for after work, and great for building up your speed. They run every week until August.
On intermittent Saturdays from March to November we have longer races up to 10 Miles, these are an early start (7.45 or 8am) but think how pleased youll feel with yourself when you have completed a race by 9am on a Saturday morning!
All abilities are welcome, whether you are super fast or more a plodder, or somewhere in between, we will definitely give you a good cheer!
Our fixture list for 2009 is now online, as are entry forms for all our Monday night and Saturday morning races, beginning with our 10 miler on March 7th (see links below for full info).

General Information on the Self-Transcendence Races, Battersea Park
On the practical side, all races are held on a 2.78K loop, the main path around the Park, and are UK RRC Certified accurate, we have race permits for all our races provided by UK Athletics and Realbuzz. The finish point is always the same and next to the Registration Area, the start point varies according to the race, so dont turn up at the last minute as you may have a little walk to the start. The course is flat, traffic free, no sharp corners, great for PBs and scenic; well it is a park! There is a water station with water, orange squash and on longer races isotonic drinks. Baggage can be left safely at Registration and Toilets are dotted around the park but they wont open until just after 7.30am. Showers are available at the Track for about two pounds. There is a Car Park right by our Registration Area, free on Monday evenings and two pounds from 9am on Saturdays.

The founder of our club, Sri Chinmoy, passed away in October 2007, and we devote all our races this year to His memory. Sri Chinmoy set up our international running club 40 years ago and inspired us not only to take part in races and achieve our best, but also to organise races all over the world. He encouraged ultra distance running when there were very few events available and oversaw the creation of 6 and 10 day races, leading up to the 3100 mile race that takes place every summer in NY. Sri Chinmoy AC will continue to organise races of all distances and for all abilities, and will strive to continue along the path of inspiration and service as Sri Chinmoy taught us.
