The finale in Munich was a real showdown both on the female and male side. Top ranking Jacqueline Lewandowski and Irina Hagedorn came to Munich as well as top ranked Oskar Ganz and 6-hour race winner from Vienna Christof Mittendrein. All of them had the potential to win the Championships.

From the start to the finish of the race Irina and Jacqueline stayed in striking distance of each other and eventually were only separated by 900 meters in the end even though non of them would win the race. The win went to Jula Dennisen with 67.092 km. Irina took second with 63.234 km and Jacqueline 4th with 62.246 km. This was enough for her to take the crown and is now 2017 Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 6-hour European Champion.

On the mens side Oskar Ganz from the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team went in the race with a lead of 66 poins. But the race leader from the start was Christof Mittendrein. With another strong performance (just 600 meters short of his Vienna race) he took the win and earned 120 points. Meanwile with 1.5 h to go Oskar had to slow down drastically because of a calf injury. Still he managed to finished 14th overall and earning 60 points for the cup. The put him 6 points ahead of Christof and he now prowdly carries the title 2017 Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 6-hour European Champion.

From the bottom of our hearts we congratulate the winners and participants of all 6-hour races and the Hero-Cup. We are looking forward seeing you in 2018. The updated website is online, so check out the modalities and races for 2018.

Blazing sun was the day’s companion for all runners at the Hero-Cup finals in Munich on September 10 with temperatures rising up to 30 degrees centigrade. The winner Christof Kühner was able to run 76.319 k which was the 3rd best performance on this course. This win moved him into 4th place, way ahead of the winners of the 6-hour races in Nuremberg (Adam Zahoran), Nitra (Róbert Bires), Prague (Apaguha Veselý) and Vienna (Andreas Sageder). Günter Marhold who lives just south of Munich finished 2nd with 72.475 k. This secured him the second place for the Hero Cup. Third place goes to Michael Vanicek, winner of Berlin, who did not start in Munich.

Even before the finale Kai Jendretzke was untouchable for the Cup win with a first place in Milan and second places in Nitra and Prague. We congratulate Kai to be the first "Sri Chinmoy Self-transcendence 6-hour European Champion".

The lady’s final was very exciting as 7 of the eventually top 8 ran the 6-hour race in Munich. For Munich race winner Antje Schuhaj this was her first race of the cup and so she would eventually end up in 7th place. Before the finale Zuzska Rybková from Czech Republic was in the leader position. She is the only runner who participated and placed in every single race. Unfortunately, her 16th place in Munich did not give her enough points to secure her standings but still put her on the podium for 3rd place. Gaby Heidemann ran fantastic races in Nurnberg with 58 points and a win in Prague. Her 6th place in Munich moved her in second place for the cup finale.

Before the Munich race Barbara Mallmann was in third position with a 164 points. A little talk with organizers from Berlin, where she took first place, made her consider participating in Munich. And a strong second place put right in front of everyone in the cup ranking and she is now the "2016 Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 6-hour European Champion".

We congratulate Barbara and Kai for their wins and all participants for their outstanding performances in 2016. We are looking forward for 2017 Cup series, which actually stars next weekend with the 6-hour race in Kiev, Ukraine.

Series standings details are available in the PDF documents.
