The Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team offers a 10-race series at popular Sydney running venues in 2011 for your enjoyment, fitness and self-transcendence. Each event includes races over 3 distances. All events start at 8 am with Registration opening at 6.45 am, and closing at 7.55 am.  See below for full event details.

Series Pass - the perfect gift! (returning for 2012...)

Enter the 10 races of the series now, and you don't have to remember to enter each race separately.  You get 10 races, spread throughout the year in great locations around Sydney, for a greatly reduced price.

Choose either the Long Distance, Middle Distance, or Short Distance option.  You can elect to change the distance you have entered for any given race.

  • All races commence at 8 am, with registration (number collection) and late entries from 6.45 am (closing at 7.55 am).
  • Prizes for age categories - longer and middle distances: 1st 7 U50, 1st 3 50-59; 1st 2 60-69; 1st 70+ (M&F); short distance 1st 3 U13; 1st 3 U17; 1st 3 17+ (M&F)
  • Walkers are welcome but no separate awards.
  • Post-race pancake breakfast for all.

Race 1: Sunday 27 February – Iron Cove 16 km, 8 km & 4 km.

Leichhardt Park, end of Glover St, Lilyfield.

The perfect venue to launch a new year of races! The relaxed leafy atmosphere of Leichhardt Park, the soothing waters of Iron Cove always nearby, the slightly-off-the-beaten-track yet close-to-the-city location: all combine with a simply great course – flat, fast and scenic – to make this a must-do event for runners, joggers and life-enjoyers. Parking at the end of Glover St, Lilyfield. On-the-day registration opens at 6.45 am and closes at 7.55 am, with races starting from 8 am.

Race 2: Sunday 27 March – Centennial Park Half-Marathon, 7 km & 4 km cross country run/walk.

Mackay Sportsground, near Robertson Rd gates, Centennial Park.

Centennial Park has become the most popular venue for Sri Chinmoy Sydney Races in recent times, and for good reason – an ever-changing cross-country course over dirt, grass and gravel takes you alongside pretty ponds, across playing fields and through lush groves of natives. With the occasional horse idling by, it's easy to imagine you're out in the countryside – until you look up at the imposing city skyline, which you can almost touch. Parking anywhere near the Robertson Rd gates. On-the-day registration opens at 6.45 am and closes at 7.55 am, with races starting from 8 am.

Race 3: Sunday 22 May – Iron Cove 16 km , 8 km & 4 km.

Leichhardt Park, end of Glover St, Lilyfield

When a race venue is as good as this, we just have to keep returning! Compare your times from the previous race here in March, or challenge yourself over another distance. Bring family and friends to enjoy a lovely Autumn morning by the Bay. Parking at the end of Glover St, Lilyfield. On-the-day registration opens at 6.45 am and closes at 7.55 am, with races starting from 8 am. Did we mention the pancake breakfast?

Race 4: Sunday 12 June – Mirambeena 16 km, 8 km & 2 miles.

Garrison Point, Beatty Reserve, end of Beatty Parade (off Henry Lawson Dr), Mirambeena Regional Reserve, Georges Hall.

If you haven't experienced the joys of running at Mirambeena, mark this down as a must do! Starting and finishing from the grassy expanse of Garrison Point, follow cycle paths through native bushland alongside Prospect Creek and around Lake Gillawarna. A few hills keep the effort honest. A run to delight body, heart and soul. Parking in car parks at the end of Beatty Parade. On-the-day registration opens at 6.45 am and closes at 7.55 am, with races starting from 8 am.

Race 5: Sunday 10 July – Dolls Point Half-Marathon, 10 km & 5 km.

Peter Depena Reserve, Russell Ave, Dolls Point.

Botany Bay is a beautiful place to run, while Peter Depena Reserve in Cook Park offers the ideal start/finishing point. The course also loops over the spectacular Captain Cook Bridge, affording great views over the mouth of the Georges River and beyond. Choose from the world's 3 most popular racing distances of Half-Marathon, 10 km and 5 km. Parking in car parks along Russell Ave. On-the-day registration opens at 6.45 am and closes at 7.55 am, with races starting from 8 am.

Race 6: Sunday 31 July – Prospect Creek 24 km, 12 km & 6 km.

Jack Ferguson Recreation Area, Gipps Rd Sporting Complex, Gipps Rd, Greystanes.

When this race was last held in 2009, runners voted it their favourite of all courses used that year. Come and see why, as you meander through leafy glades along both sides of Prospect Creek. The 24 km offers the ideal 'longer run', or settle into your groove with 12 km or 6 km. This journey 'out west' is very rewarding and well worth the effort! Parking at the Jack Ferguson Recreation Area. On-the-day registration opens at 6.45 am and closes at 7.55 am, with races starting from 8 am.

Race 7: Sunday 11 September – Centennial Park Half-Marathon, 7 km & 4 km cross country.

The second of our Winter Half-Marathons, this time cross-country through the ever-refreshing Centennial Park – or choose from the shorter 7 km and 4 km options. Studies show that regular runners are not only healthier and more successful than sedentary folk – they are also considerably happier! (your smile is the proof…) Parking anywhere near the Robertson Rd gates. On-the-day registration opens at 6.45 am and closes at 7.55 am, with races starting from 8 am.

Race 8: Sunday 16 October – Iron Cove 16 km, 8 km & 4 km.

The Sri Chinmoy Sydney Series returns to Iron Cove for one last time in 2011. The friendly village atmosphere and bayside course always ensures an enjoyable morning, no matter what your running form or personal result. It's nice to win, and achieve personal best times – but the real victory is in turning up and participating. Parking at the end of Glover St, Lilyfield. Race 9: Sunday 27 November – Cooks River 16 km, 8 km & 4 km.

Ewen Park, Tennent Parade, Hurlstone Park.

This inner-west haven follows cycle paths along both sides of the Cooks River, between Hurlstone Park and Earlwood – a tranquil, friendly and intimate course with tree-cover for most of the way. Treat yourself to something special, then reward yourself even further with a post-race pancake breakfast. Parking in car parks on Ewen Parade, only 500 metres from Hurlstone Park Station. On-the-day registration opens at 6.45 am and closes at 7.55 am, with races starting from 8 am.

With the Christmas party season upon us, it's as well to reward the body and spirit with what they really love best: an enlivening morning run in uplifting surrounds and the best company!
