With The English Channel tides for swimming more than 1/2 past, the wave of success heading to France is already huge!

Karteek Clarke and Beate Kuntz of the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team Swimmers both smile in France!

Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team Swims #34 and #35

For a few years, Karteek from Edinburgh Scotland, has churned the cold waters in search of seven English Channel swim crossings. The goal inspired by Sri Chinmoy, was reached in a swim Karteek is quoted as saying was "the most difficult of all". Holder of the team's fastest swim crossing,10:53, a rough water day and hours of nausea landed him in France with a time of 13 hours and 28 minutes this past July.

The new member of the English Channel Team is from Austria but currently lives in Germany is Bea. Inspired only in the past 2 years to commit to training for her crossing, she had to learn to swim freestyle! Her breaststroke swimming would take much longer. Everyone knows the quicker you swim, the sooner you can get into a hot shower! So Bea set off to learn her new stroke. Total Immersion instruction drills and practise. And learn she did... making her crossing on Monday August 1st with an outstanding time of:

 14 hours and 6 minutes!

Something else is special about Bea's English Channel Swim day. Is wasn't just beginners luck!

Earlier in the day, German open water swim ace, Christof Wandratsch, broke the 11 year old English Channel World Record held by American Chad Hundeby by 14 minutes! His time?

7 Hours, 3 Minutes, 52 Seconds

(More details to come on the record breaking swim)

Congratulations English Channel Swimmers!
