Women - 700 Mile Race

Dipali Cunningham - 45  Melbourne, Australia
Dipali is one of the world's best women ultra-distance runners. She has won 14 of the 17 multiday events she has entered since 1992, including three overall victories. In the spring of 2001 she set a new women’s world record on the road for six days with 510 miles, defeating all the men in that race. In 2001 she ran 700 miles in 9 days 11 hours, the third fastest all-time for women. She has completed the 700 mile race eight times. In 1998 she set a  women’s world best on the road for six-days with 504 miles, despite heavy rains at Wards Island Park. In 1999 she won the 700 mile race overall in 10 days, 21 hours. She is ranked third in the world for 700 miles, and third for 1000 miles, having dominated the women's 1000 mile race in 1997 in 13 days, 20 hours.  She has won all six Six-day titles in our spring-time event.  She likes shorter, faster races as well, having won the Sri Chinmoy 47 Mile Invitational 17 times for the women.
 
Beatrice Boesch - 50  Basel Switzerland
In 19 years of running, Beatrice has run 31 ultras and six multidays, including several 48 hour and 24 hour races. Thjis will be her first attempt at 700 miles.

Men - 700 Mile Race

Tibor Malits - 31  Szekesfehervar, Hungary
In 2001 Tibor finished the 700 mile race in fifth place, completing the distance in 11 days, 13 hours. In 10 years of running, Tibor has completed over 33 ultras, including five 24 hour races and two 48 hour races among his ten multidays. He ran 564 miles in the ten day, good for fourth place for the men. In 2000 he ran 527 miles in the 700 mile race, his first stab beyond six days.

Luis Rios - 55  Brooklyn, NY  USA
Last year Luis ran 627 miles, the furthest he has gone in a multiday race. A fixture at all shorter ultras in the New York area, Luis has had a long and prolific running journey. He has completed over 200 ultras, including a best at 24 hours-140 miles, and several fast 100 milers to his credit. He has done seven multiday events, with a best of 421 miles for six days. He ran 525 miles in the Ten day race in 2001. This spring he totaled 525 miles again in the Ten-Day event as a warm-up for this race.


Christopher Muellauer - 31  Zurich, Switzerland
Christopher M. also debuted this spring at multiday running, reaching 328 miles in his first attempt at six days on the road.

Christopher Rana - 26 Hamburg, Germany
This spring Christopher ran 334 miles in the Six Day event, his first multiday attempt. He has been running for four years.
