Lenka Svecova - 28 Brno, Czech RepublicLenka has completed 15 ultras, including six multidays. In 2001 she reached her 1000 mile goal in 15 days 15 hours, which was a Czech women’s national record. In 2000 she finished the 700 miler tied for second place in 11 days six hours. She ran 572 miles in the Ten day race in 2001. She finished fourth in 2000 in the six-day with 334 miles. Last year in the 1300 mile race she reached 863 miles before becoming ill with a viral infection. Lenka has a best of 375 miles for six days, and has run 163 miles for 48 hours, both Czech records. |
Svetlana Khisamoutdinova - 58 Smolensk, RussiaSvetlana reached 1015 miles in the 1300 mile race last year in her first attempt at the distance. In 2001 Svetlana finished the 1000 mile race in 16 days 01 hours, becoming the oldest finisher of that event at that time. Svetlana has run 15 ultras in the last few years, including 382 miles for six days, as well as 872 miles in the 1000 mile race in 2000. She was a former professor of physical culture at Smolensk Institute, and was also a champion speed skater in earlier years. |

Ashprihanal Aalto - 32 Helsinki, FinlandOne of the best endurance runners in the world, Ashprihanal returns to attempt the elusive 1300 miler. He is ranked second all-time for 3100 miles (46 days 13 hours), has won the 700 mile race three times with a best of 9 days five hours, and has won the 3100 race two times (2000 and 2001). Ashprihanal has emerged victorious in the Six Day Race for the last two years as well, winning each race with supreme efforts on the last day. He has also hiked the Appalachian Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail in solo fashion, covering over 37 miles per day for up to eight weeks. Ashprihanal works as a courier and delivery man back in Helsinki. |
Rainer Koch - 22 Dettelbach, GermanyThe youngest starter in the history of the race, Rainer is determined to do well. He has run 203 km for 24 hours, 8:20 for 100 km, and participated in the 18 day Trans Gaule stage race in France. He has 2:52 marathon speed as well. |
