Women - 1000 Mile Race

Paula Mairer - 44  Salzburg, Austria
Last year Paula broke two long-standing records for women, setting new world bests at 1000 km (7+16:08:37) and 700 miles (8+15:34:13). In 2001 Paula broke the women’s world record for 1300 miles by completing the distance in 17 days 21 hours, nearly an hour and a half under the record. Her split for 1000 miles (13 days 17 hours)  ranks second alltime. Paula won the 1000 miler for the women in 2000 in 14 days 12 hours, the only  finisher of that race. In 1999 in her first attempt she finished 1000 miles in 17 days, two hours, during Hurricane Floyd. A few years earlier she finished the 700 miler on two occaisons.
 
Tina Bercic - 30  Ljubljana, Slovenia
In 2002, Tina finished second in the 1000 miler with 847 miles.    Tina completed  the 700 mile race in 2000 tied for second place in 11 days six hours. That was her multiday debut. She has done 397 miles for six days and 599 for ten days, among her 12 ultramarathons.

Kaneenika Janakova - 33  Bratislava, SLK
Kaneenika ran a personal best for 700 miles last year in 10 days+19:52:05, placing third overall, and ahead of the men. She finished second in the 700 mile race in 2001, finishing in 11 days 12 hours. She has a best of 406 miles for six days, a Slovakian record. In 2000 she ran 364 miles in her first six day event. She has been running for eight years, with ten ultras and four multidays to her credit. 
 
Maria Horvath - 38  Zalaegerszeg, Hungary
This spring Maria ran 504 miles in the Ten Day Race.  She has a best of 348 miles for the six days.  She has run seven ultras in nine years of running.
