Men - 1000 Mile Race

Don Winkley - 65  Corpus Christi, Texas, USA

Don returns to New York in a new age group. In 1997 he set  an American age group record (55-59) for 1000 miles in 14 days 10 hours. At the time this was a masters world best for the distance. 1995 he became the oldest finisher of the Moonbat Trans America Race (2925 miles) finishing tenth and completing all 64 stages. In 1994 he set an American six day age group (55-59) record of 450 miles. In the Inaugural Sri Chinmoy Ten Day Race in 1996, Don finished fifth with 600 miles. He won the race overall the following year. He has run in many countries, including stage races across France, across Europe, and across the deserts of Australia.

 
Tsvetan Tsekov - 22 Sofia, Bulgaria

The youngest competitor of this race, Tsvetan won the 700 miler last fall for the men in 11 days 18 hours. This spring in the Ten Day, Tsvetan finished second with 622 miles, a personal best. In a brief run ning career of six years, Tsvetan has run five multidays.


Pranam Horlbeck - 35 Zurich, Switzerland

Last year in the 1000, Pranam reached 780 miles. He finished sixth in the 700 mile race in 2001, completing the distance in 11 days 21 hours. He has run five multidays in seven years of running.

 
Chanakhya Jakovic - 49 Jamaica, New York, USA

In 2002, Chanakhya completed 642 miles for his furthest distance covered in any race. In 30 years of running, Chanakhya has run over 30 ultras, including 18 multidays. He has a best of 303 miles for six days, and in 2000 ran 623 miles during the 1000 mile race.


Martin Milovnik - 31 Bratislava, Slovakia

Martin finished second with 870 miles in the 1000 Mile Race last year, his third attempt at the distance.  He ran 852 miles in the 1000 Mile Race in 2001 and 850 miles in 2000.  He completed 580 miles in his multiday debut in the 10 Day Race in 2000.  He has run over 15 ultras in his brief running career.
