2003 Self-Transcendence Ultra Trio

2003 Self-Transcendence Ultra Trio

The Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team is pleased to offer Self-Transcendence Ultra Trio, an event lasting nearly three week long encompassing three of the longest running races in the USA, 1300 miles, 1000 miles and 700 miles.

Each races is run within the confines of a one mile loop, in a style known as 'go as you please.' All services are provided trackside, including food, medical assistance, showers and lap counting.

The course is certified by USA Track and Field, the governing body of athletics. The competitors sleep in tents and share the road for up to 20 hours a day. The races can become extremely tactical with competitors having to navigate a fine line between running and rest to ensure they keep up their daily miles but also have enough in reserve to get to the finish line.

The 1300 mile runners need to average 72 miles a day for 18 days. The 1000 mile race requires 67 miles a day and the 700 miler a mere 58 miles per day!
