2000 Sri Chinmoy Ultra Trio Race Summary
Women 1. Martina Hausmann,40, Wurzburg, GER 2. Nidruvi Zimmermann,35, Vienna,AUT
Day 1 Martina and Nidruvi stayed close throughout, both taking the same amount of breaks. A big rainstorm soaked the course after five hours, then the temps dropped 30º to the fifties. Both are well.Day 2 They are sticking together like glue. Martina did 69 miles and Nidruvi 72, so only a lap separates them. The cool evening helps with running and sleeping, although they do not sleep much.Day 3 Nidruvi has fashioned a three mile lead with a solid 70 mile day. Martina ran 68 but looked tired. The weather remained good with cool evenings for running.Day 4 Nidruvi and Martina are still close, with a solid cushion for each, after four days. M did 70, N did 69, as the humidity started to rise again.Day 5 Warmer today, yet the dynamic duo marches on. Nidruvi picked up one mile- 69 to 68 miles.Day 6 Hot and sticky as Martina goes for a German women's record for six days- 438 miles. Nidruvi stays within a mileDay 7 Hot and sticky, but the runners are moving. Nidruvi flips ahead by one. Steady runningDay 12 Martina closes a ten mile gap to six at days end. Both are on pace to finish, with little margin for error.
Day 15 Both women pass 1000 miles( Nidruvi- 14 +07:02:21; Martina- 14+08:52:29), personal bests for each. Day 17 The difference is only two laps, but more important, they are both on pace to finish within the 19-day limit. Day 18 They are tied, with only one day or 65 miles to go. Whoever goes all night will reach first.
Day 19 Martina took a break at midnight, only a lap back of Nidruvi. But the younger Austrian stayed later and built a slight lead and then only slept for 60 minutes. Nidruvi Zimmermann became only the fifth woman to reach 1300 miles in a certified race, breaking the tape in 18+20:25:44. Martina followed her home in 18+23:05:30, her second 1300 finish and a personal best. Week One

Day 1 In typical Rimas fashion, he blitzed the course for 116 miles, pulling Thomas along with 103. The other two are intent to be more steady.Day 2 Rimas ran 81 miles on Day 2 and looked super late at night. Andreas did 74 but also looks good. Victor ran well late in the day but lost a litle to the cushion. Thomas looks stiff and tired.Day 3 Rimas did 84 miles today, and looks smooth and happy. He is averaging over 93 miles a day so far. Andreas fell back just a little, but is averaging 82 miles for three days.Thomas looked better and ran well with a 78 mile day.Day 4 Rimas struggled a little with 60 miles, but he needed an easier day, perhaps. Andreas managed 68, the other two are falling back.Day 5 Rimas rebounds with 81 miles as Andreas maintains with 70.Day 6 Rimas reaches 502 with another 80 mile day. Victor has all but faded. Andreas is still moving but needs more speed.Day 7 Rimas rules with 80 miles again. Thomas drops out.Day 11 Rimas had a spectacular day with 95 miles, and seems headed for greatness. He is ahead of 1300 mile record pace, and should pass 1000 miles on Sunday, with a fast time.
Day 12 Rimas passes 1000 miles- 11+23:07:21- fourth fastest alltime, and is slightly ahead of 1300 mile best. Day 14 After an easy day, Rimas runs another 80 mile day to put himself 56 miles ahead of the previous record. Day 16 Rimas passes the 2000 km record, (15+23:08:00, set in 1993 by Istvan Sipos) by nearly 13 hours- 2000 km = 15+10:16:02, and continues on. He is not struggling, and continues to run 10 and sometimes 9 or 8 minute miles. By days end he needs only three miles to finish. Day 17 Rimas passes 1300 miles in 16 days +00:28:10, a new world best by over 14 hours. His performance was special, to say the least. He seems to get better with each race, having won the Sri Chinmoy Ten Day race earlier this year in a course record.
