Suprabha Beckjord, 47, Washington, DC USA
Suprabha is one of the most prolific super-long distance runners in the world. She is the only six-time finisher in the Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race, and still the only female competitor. Her best is 49 days, 14 hours for 3100 miles. In the decade of the nineties, she compiled 20,108-multiday racing miles in 14 events. She is the American women’s record holder for 700, 1000 and 1300 miles. She is only one of two people ever to finish the 1300-mile race three times. She was first woman in the 1996 Sri Chinmoy 2700 Mile Race, third overall out of six people, establishing new records beyond 1300 miles up to 2700 miles. Suprabha won the Sri Chinmoy Seven-Day race five times earlier in her career, and has held the women’s world record for 1000 miles as well. She has a six-day best of 459 miles, sixth ranking all-time for women. She owns a gift shop in Washington, DC, and has been a member of the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team for many years.
 
Namitabha Arsic, 37, Nis, Yugoslavia
Namitabha has finished 3100 miles four times in six tries, with a best of 48 days 4 hours, set in 2000. He has finished in second place three times in the history of the race. Namitabha ran 2831 miles in the 1998 3100 mile race, a long way to go for a fifth place finish. As a provisional starter in the 1997 3100 Mile Race, he completed 2700 miles, good for fourth place. He has 2:48 marathon speed, and has also run 903 miles in a 1000-mile race attempt. Namitabha works as a railroad engineer in Yugoslavia when not running multidays.
 
Andreas Puntigam, 32, Vienna. Austria
Last year in his first attempt, Andreas ran a very strong race, finishing in third place in 49 days, four hours. He has run seven multidays, including a sterling 1000 miles in 14 days 17 hours in 2001. He has run 700 miles in 10 days 18 hours. In 2000 Andreas finished second in the 1300 miler with 974 miles before a leg injury slowed him down.
 
Trishul Cherns, 46, Middle Village, NY (Canada)
One of the most prolific ultra runners in the world, Trishul is Canada's premier multiday specialist. In 1999 he finished third in the 3100 miler in 50 days, three hours, surviving one of the hottest summers on record in New York. In 1996 he finished fifth in the Sri Chinmoy 2700 Mile Race in 45 days, 15 hours. He holds 112 Canadian national records for various distances, including 1000 miles (13 days 7 hours), 48 hours (221 miles 230 yds) and 1000km (7 days 14 hours). He has done 538 miles for six days and over 130 miles for 24 hours, as well as having run 30 multidays in his sparkling ultra career totaling 150 ultra races. He is dedicating this year's race to the memory of the late Dr. Sharthaknama Avery Ferentz, his chiropractor and a dear friend of the Marathon Team, who died suddenly last August. Trishul is a massage therapist living with his wife Kaaren in Middle Village, Queens.
 
Abichal Sherrington, 42,Pontypool, Wales UK
In eight years of running, Abichal has run 23 ultras, including all eight Ten-Day events, the only person to finish all eight. His best for that event is 540 miles. Abichal has run 700 miles in 11 days 23 hours. Last fall he ran 827 miles in the 1000-mile race. Abichal is an aspiring poet, with five books of his works in print.
 
Stefan Warum, 29, Heidelberg, Germany
Stefan has run eight ultras and many marathons in a ten-year running career. His best is 453 miles for ten days and 111 miles for 24 hours.
 

Matt Boulton, 30, Canberra, ACT, Australia
Matt is running his first super long race with limited ultra distance experience. He has run four ultras in six years of running.
