Rimas Jakelaitis,49, Brooklyn, NY LIT
The event record-holder and three-time champion, Rimas
returns to continue his luck at the Ten Day. In 2002 he
won the Ten Day with 701 miles. In 2001 he set the event
record with 901 miles; on the way he reached 600 miles for
six days, one of only 11 men to have ever achieved this
milestone in history. In 2000 he set an event record and
won the Ten Day Race with 745 miles, then came back in the
fall to set two world records in the Ultra Trio- 1300
miles in 16 days +00:28:10, and 2000 km-15 days +10:06:02.
He also ran 823 miles for the first ten days of that race,
an elite total and a new course record at that time. Rimas
has run nearly 50 ultras in 20 years of running. He holds
the Lithuanian 100 km record (7:20:41), set in1995. In
1999, in his multiday debut, he won the Six-Day with 517
miles, holding off all competitors. In 2002 he attempted
and completed the 3100 mile race in 50 days+02:44:08 in a
difficult struggle with shin splints and hot, sticky
weather. A frequent racer, Rimas runs many of the local
ultras in the New York area.

Trishul Cherns,47, Middle Village,NY CAN
One of the most prolific ultrarunners in the world,
Trishul is Canada's premier multiday specialist. In 1996
he finished fifth in the Sri Chinmoy 2700 Mile Race in 45
days, 15 hours. He holds 108 Canadian national records for
various distances, including 1000 miles (13 days 7 hours),
48 hours (221 miles 230 yds) and 1000km (7 days 14 hours).
He has done 538 miles for six days and over 130 miles for
24 hours, as well as having run over 30 multidays in his
sparkling ultra career,totalliing over 150 ultra races. In
1999 he finished third in the 3100 miler in 50 days, three
hours, surviving one of the hottest summers on record in
New York. Last year he again braved the summer heat to
finish the 3100 mile collossus in 55 days two hours.
Trishul is a massage therapist living with his wife Kaaren
in Middle Village,Queens.

Don Winkley, 66, Corpus Christi, TX USA
Last year at Flushing Meadows in the first six days of
the 1000 mile race, Don set two records- a 65-69 age group
world best of 171 miles for 48 hours, and a US age group
best of 390 miles for 6 days. In 1997 he set an American
age group record(55-59) for 1000 miles in 14 days 10
hours. At the time this was a masters world best for the
distance. 1995 he became the oldest finisher of the
Moonbat Trans America Race (2925 miles) finishing tenth
and completing all 64 stages. In 1994 he set an American
six day age group(55-59) record of 450 miles. In the
Inaugural Sri Chinmoy Ten Day Race in 1996, Don finished
fifth with 600 miles.He won the race overall the following
year. He has run in many countries, including stage races
across France, across Europe, and across the deserts of
Australia.

Walter Zimmermann,50, Markheidenfeld,GER
In 2002, Walter finished second in the Ten Day Race
with 651 miles, an impressive total. In 17 years of
running he has run over 150 ultras, including 17 multiday
races.He finished third in the 1999 Ten day Race with 623
miles.

Christopher Mullauer,31, Zurich, SUI
Last fall in the 700 mile race, Christopher finished
first for the men in 10 days,17 hours. Included in that
race was a very good split of 409 miles for six days, in
only his second multiday. Last year in the six day,
Christopher ran 328 miles.

Christopher Rana,27 Hamburg,GER
Last fall, Christopher finished second for the men in
the 700 Mile Race in 11 days 14 hours, He ran the six day
race last spring, completing 334 miles.

Luis Rios,56, Brooklyn,NY USA
In 2002 Luis ran 627 miles in the 700 mile race, the
furthest he has gone in a multiday event. A fixture at all
shorter ultras in the New York area, Luis has had a long
and prolific running journey. He has completed over 200
ultras, including a best at 24 hours-140 miles, and
several fast 100 milers to his credit. He has done eight
multiday events, with a best of 421 miles for six days. He
ran 525 miles in the Ten day race in 2001. In 2003 he
totaled 525 miles again in the Ten-Day event.

In 15 years of running, Gregor has completed five
multidays, including 803 miles in the 1000 mile
race(1997), and 376 miles for six days.

best for six days is 608 km(375 miles) last year in the
Gloden Leopard Six Day.

Klaus has been running for 10 years, including 24 ultras
and 26 marathons. His six day multiday debut last year
ended with 251 miles.

to his credit. Last year he ran 258 miles in the six day

Elvira Janosi, 48, Palic, Serb-Mont.
A seasoned veteran of 40 years of running, Elvira has
travelled the world and competed everywhere. She hlods
national records at six days, ten days, 1000 km and 700
miles. She has won the Ten Day Race four times for the
women, including a best of 550 miles. She completed the
700 mile race in 2000 in 12 days four hours.

Lenka Svecova,29,Brno,CZ
Lenka has completed 17 multidays in 22 years of running.
Her bests include 1000 miles in 15 days 15 hours (2001),
635 miles for ten days (split), and 413 miles for six
days- all national records.

Dorothea Vogeli,40,Basel, SU
Last year Dorothea won the women’s Ten Day with 577
miles. She was first lady in the 2002 1000 Mile Race with
901 miles. In all she has run 22 ultras including 4
multidays.
