Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 15 June 2004: - - O’Neill rider Stuart Campbell continued his unstoppable rise through the surfing ranks last weekend, winning not only the Under 14 category but also the Under 21 title at the Rusty Gulfstream surfing tournament in Croyde Bay, Devon.

Stuart, who at just 13 years old is the youngest member of the O’Neill UK surf team, was stoked to beat some of the most experienced surfers around to clinch the top title.

Stuart said, “I’m stoked to have won both the Under 14 and Under 21 categories. I have been surfing a lot recently with Sam Lamiroy and he has helped me improve my technique. I feel like it has really paid off.”

Stuart cut his surfing teeth at the O’Neill Surf Academy back in 1999 when he was just 9 years old. His natural raw talent and enthusiasm for the sport was immediately evident. He signed his first sponsorship deal with O’Neill in 2003.

“To win an Under 21 event at just thirteen years old is simply incredible”, said Paul Wilkinson, Marketing Manager at O’Neill.

“When Stuart first came to our attention at the O’Neill Surf Academy. We knew he had the talent to be a brilliant surfer but his progression has been astounding.”

Stuart will again be present at the O’Neill Surf Academy at Croyde Bay in June where he hopes to inspire this year’s recruits to follow in his impressive footsteps.
