The race is held under permit no.6550 from the South of England Athletic Association and organised to RRC and IAU standards regarding measurement of circuit, lap counting and ratification of records.

41 Rune AKSELSEN 24 hour pb of 115 miles. 100k pb of 9 hrs 30.
42 PerGunnar ALFHEIM A very accomplished 100km and 24 hour runner with some impressive performances. Per Gunnar has run four 24 hour races with a pb of 218 kms set in May 2005. Other races include four 100km races (pb 8:09:42).
43 Mikhael ANDERSSON, Swedish Mikhael's goal is to stay on the track for 24 hours and run as much as he can.
44 Steven BATTLE Steven ran 100k in 9 hrs 41 at Torhout this year. This is Steven's first 24 hour race.
45 Samuel BLACK Samuel has completed eight 24 hour races with a best distance of 99 miles. This year he has set himself the goal of running between 85 and 90 miles.
46 Sandra BROWN Defending women's champion achieving 123 miles in last year's race .She has successfully completed around 120 events of 100miles or more together with numerous other amazing achievements she is far too modest to tell us about. Along with Dan Coffey probably the most experienced competitor here today.
47 Sue CLEMENTS Completed 104 miles at Tooting in 2004 which was Sue's pb. Has also completed 20;100 mile events and is a three time finisher of the 145 mile Grand Union Canal race.
48 Dan COFFEY Legend in his own lunchtime! Dan is the oldest competitor today at 75 years young. Dan has pbs of 125.5 miles at 24 hours; 203.3 miles at 48 hours; and 510.45 miles at 6 days. Dan thinks he still holds the male 55 world best for 1000 miles and the indoor 24 hour male 60 record. His stated aim is to do his best and encourage others in a great sport.
49 Ritchie CUNNINGHAM Hopefully wearing the marvellous Day-Glo orange/yellow vest of Carnegie Harriers. Very experienced hill racer from Scotland who has competed in events like the Scottish Islands Peaks, the 42 mile Devil o'the Highlands and the 50k Speyside Way. Twice finisher of the 95-mile West Highland Way. His 6th place in the Way this year in 18 hours 49mins suggests if his head can adapt to going round in circles he could do well.
50 Andreas DOERFLER, German We think this is Andreas first 24 hour race though he has a lot of experience including Marathon des Sables; 420 k (in 6 days) Spreelauf ultra and the Sri Chinmoy 6 hour race amongst others.
51 Ken FANCETT Ken's background is mainly in LDWA challenge walking and trail races though he has also completed Comrades and the Leadville (100 mile) trail race in the US. He seems to be getting the hang of the 24 hour event having won the race here in 2004 with his pb of 133 miles and finished 2nd last year.
52 Torill FONN, (F), 24 hour pb of 198 km which is the Norwegian women's record set in 2005. Also has the Norwegian 6 hour record of 64.4 km. Torill is hoping to go over 200km in this year's race.
53 Reima HARTIKAINEN Reima has a 100 k best of 8.09 hrs and a 6 hour best of 84.25km (Nordic record) and 24 hour pb of 229 km the second best by a Swede. His wife Torill thought he was mad when he ran first 100k but as you can see she is also lining up in today's race so she obviously changed her mind!
54 Katherine HAY-HEDDLE Experienced adventure racer also with 3 Marathon des Sables finishes. In the Yukon Arctic Ultra she completed 150 miles before falling through ice in a lake causing an injury which ended her race!!â¦.hopefully no ice today!!
55 Ray HOYLE Ray has completed over 200 marathons since 1987 as well as 10, South Downs Way 80's and Comrades. This will be his seventh appearance at Tooting. His pb being 94 miles 1600 yards.
56 Dave HOLLOWAY This will be Dave's 5th 24 hour race . He competed here in 2004 and has a pb. of 91 miles set at Hull in2005
57 Bjorn HYTJANSTORP Relatively new to ultra running but has competed in various ultras in the last 3 years. Not content with running ultras he also organises ultra races in Scandanavia. His main goal this year is "to get control of the eating" which has been a problem for him in previous races.
58 Gilbert JOHN Very experienced ultra runner on road and trail with a 24 hour pb of 95 miles 1557 yards set in very hot conditions. Has a long term goal to crack the 100 mile barrier.
59 Eoin KEITH, Ireland Eoin was third in Tooting 2004 and competed in the World Championships in Taiwan earlier this year. Winner of this year's Wicklow 50 km trail race in his native Ireland. Captained the Irish Adventure Racing team in the Primal Quest event billed as the biggest and toughest AR race in the world which involved 9 days of running, trekking, mountain biking, kayaking, white water swimming, horse riding, canyoning, mountaineering at altitude and rope ascending and descending. 24 hours on a track should be a piece of cake after that!
60 John KEOGH Very experienced ultra runner from Edinburgh. Running for the" world famous" Hunters Bog Trotters. Has been running ultras for over 20 years.
61 Aivar LUUD, Estonia Aivar is a member of the Estonian Ultra Running team. His 100k pb is 9 hours 26 min. 12 hour pb of 121.29 km and 24 hour pb of 182.19 km achieved at the 24 hour World Champs in Austria in 2005.
62 Kevin MARSHALL Another experienced ultra runner who seems to have made a comeback in the last 2 years. Has completed 19 events of 100 miles+ as well as over 100 marathons.
63 Derek MARTIN 24 hour pb of 105 miles achieved at Hull in 2004.
64 Ray McCURDY Ray's long term goal is to crack the 100 mile barrier in a 24 hour. Has run over 155 marathons and 38 ultras.
65 Smiler Sid MORRISON Sid is always smiling and looks forever youthful. Numerous London to Brighton, 24 hours and 100k races to his name. Was once famously seen helping an AA man fix his van at the side of the track in the middle of a 24 hour event at the Hull, He probably lost a couple of miles! One of his long term goals is to complete a multi day race before he is 70.
66 John PARES Won this year's Barry 40 mile track race and represented Wales in this year's Anglo-Celtic Plate 100km event where he set his pb of 8.05h. His goal is to qualify for the GB 24 hour team by reaching the tough GB standard of 234 km.
67 Mette PILGAARD(F), Denmark Mette has a 24 hour pb of 202 km set at Brno in 2004 and she has also completed the Spartathlon and the Sugeres 48 hour race.
68 Stephen POPE His first 24 hour race but has an impressive pedigree at short ultras. Winner of the Barry 40 in 2005: marathon pb of 2.41;3rd at the Tipton 12 hour track race in 2005 with 82 miles. Could figure in the mix if he can stay on his feet.
69 Peter ROGERS This is Peter's first 24 hour but he has run 6 London to Brightons as well as Comrades; 100ks etc. Hopes to reach 100 miles.
70 Tom SCRIVEN Tom has ran at least nine 24 hour races. He took up running in his mid fifties to lose weight and get fit. Now almost 20 years later he's still piling in the miles. His best 24 hour distance was 102 miles in 2000 when he was 68 years young.
71 Patricia SEABROOK Patricia has run over 310 marathons and hopes to reach 400 in the year of the London Olympics in 2012. Completed her 10th LDWA 100 this year. Her fourth visit to Tooting.
72 William SICHEL Gb international at both 100km and 24 hours with years of experience. A former winner here at Tooting Completed the Badwater 145 mile race this summer. His impressive pb's are: 100km 7.07hrs in 1996; 24 hour 153.3 miles in 2000; Former Guinness World Record Holder of the 100 mile and 24 hour treadmill records. Another Brit hoping to achieve the GB ultra qualifying mark for the World 24 hour champs in Canada next year.
73 Pam STOREY This will be Pam's 99th ultra/marathon event. She is one of the most familiar faces on the GB ultra scene. Always enthusiastic and offering encouragement to others.
74 Tarit STOTT Another previous winner here at Tooting and former member of the GB 24 hour team. 24 hour best 230km when he finished 8th at the European Championships at Uden in 2000. Completed his 10th West Highland Way race in June this year. Getting good at running slowly but hopes to stay on the track and get over 200k if things go well.
75 Steve SUTTLE This looks like Steve's first 24 hour race, although he has completed 12 London to Brightons and two 100kms. Has also started but failed to finish the Grand Union Canal race twice. His goal is to finish in something over 100 miles.
76 Ramona THEVENET-SMITH Another GB athlete looking for the GB selection standard for the World Championships in Canada next year. Her pb for 24 hour is 195.9 km set in Appeldorn in 2004.
77 Kjell TITLESTAD, Norway 43 year old Norwegian Kjell runs for fun and seems to participate in any distance of race. Ultra wise he has 100k best of 8.48 h and 24 hour best of 207 kms.
78 Paul TRANTER Has been running ultras for two years and in that time has run the Barry 40, the Two Oceans, the High Peak Marathon and the West Highland Way. This is his first 24 hour race and hopes to crack the 100 mile barrier.
79 John TURNER The Blackheath" stalwart" has completed over 100 marathons and has a very credible 17 London to Brighton finishes. Has twice achieved 116 miles in this event and would love to get over 100 miles again.
80 Evgeniy USHAKOV, Russia An impressive 24 hour pb of 235km (146 miles) set in 2004 and 218 km achieved earlier this year must mark Evgeniy out as one to watch. This will be his tenth 24 hour race and he has set himself a "modest" goal of 210 km.
81 Clauida WEBER, (F) Germany This will be Claudia's 12th 24 hour event .She has a pb of 106 miles from earlier this year.
82 Thomas WENNING, Germany Accomplished German ultra runner who ran 227.4km (138 miles) at the World 24 hour Championships in Taiwan earlier this year.
83 Ray WILLET Ray has completed 13 South Downs Ways (80miles), 4 x Grand Union Canal (145 miles), umpteen marathons and triathlons. Ray's goal is to finish and beat last year's finishing distance of 90 miles and catch up with some familiar faces again.
84 Peter ZUIDEMA, Sri Chinmoy AC, Holland To date has completed 40 marathons and 57 ultras. Has pbs of 207.7km for 24 hours, 9.58hr for 100km and 113 km for 12 hours. Peter's recent marathon pb of 3.08 and victory in the Self Transcendence 47 mile race in New York in August suggest these pbs could be under serious threat this weekend. A good run would put him in contention for the Dutch 24 squad for Canada.
85 Chris CARVER Chris' first 24 hour race. Health problems seem to have restricted Chris' running over the years (he has on two separate occasions been diagnosed and successfully treated for cancer). He seems to have made long solo journey runs part of his recovery process, but this year has embarked on entering ultra competitions. We wish him well today
