Scenes from the 24 Hour Race
A few images from previous races.
The Self Transcendence 24 Hour race begins at noon on the Saturday, typically with a field of 40-50 runners. This pic shows the start, with the trackside counter's shelter behind.

The counters are there to record every lap, but the team also likes to offer vocal support to all participants! Most of our recorders are members of the Sri Chinmoy AC so many have run marathons and ultramarathons themselves.

Views of the counter's shelter during the day, and during that "long day's journey into night".

More scenes from previous races:

Above: Tarit Adrian Stott (Sri Chinmoy AC) and Jimmy Shaw share a lap. Below: Dr Hilary Walker, ultradistance legend, on the track at Tooting.

Our award ceremony takes place shortly after the race finish at noon on Sunday. There are numerous agegroup awards in addition to the usual placings. Pictured below, a very tired Tarit Adrian Stott contemplates the winner's trophy after completing 132 miles.

The Self Transcendence 24 Hour Race has a unique atmosphere, as those who have taken part or come along as helpers in any capacity will attest. For more information, contact London's specialist running store, Run and Become, where the race is organised:
