Twenty one athletes sprang from the blocks this week
for Self Transcendence race number 6. Nurari took gold
medal in the womens event with a superb time of 15.21 -
proof that long hours working in a vegetarian caf can be
a recipe for success. Sarah and Agnes from Edinburgh
claimed second and third place. Among the "transcenders"
from last week were Diane and the aforementioned Nurari;
also Bhashini, Indrani and Paula who all got their
"season's best" times after weeks of steady improvement -
a great achievement.

Roger hung on to first place in the men' race in a slower
time than usual, probably the result of a racing ascent
of Snowdon on his birthday (sorry, had to mention that).
Dave and Ambarish came second and third in 11.56 and 12.10
respectively (Ambarish's time a season's best). Suswara
was the other male "transcender" with a 5 second
improvement (though we think his best is yet to come).

Nurari takes the prize this week for both winning and
improving her time. A small award is also on it's way
to Sarada and Bithika for their heroics in the Cambridge
race. I wasn't there, but I'm told a local tree (who
had obviously been watching Lord of The Rings on DVD)
uprooted itself and charged onto the track, attacking
the hapless Sarada mid-race. In all seriousness though,
the Cambridge centre leader did have a nasty collision
and bravely finished the race despite a head injury -
Bithika running with her to see her home safely.
