Cameron Brown, New Zealand's top endurance triathlete, has signed a sponsorship deal with a major international banana company, guaranteeing his apearance at the Lake Taupo Ironman event–New Zealand's most famous Ironman.

Whether it was his love of bananas or his admiration for the beautiful lakefront course, one factor that is certain to have acted as a motivation is Brown's determination to win his 5th consecutive title in the March 5th 2005 race.

Complex carbohydrate rich training supplements in good supply, Brown will head for Hawaii next week to prepare for the Ironman World Championships on October 16, an event he has finished third in for the past two years.

Most recently the professional triathlete and native of Auckland finished second in the Cairns Half Ironman in Australia, despite a bike crash in training that cut his race preparation short by about a week.
