Tjarnarhlaup 28 June
| None of the participants of the Self-Transcendence
Tjarnarhlaup 2 mile race on June 28 managed to actually transcend their
personal best. It must be said that the weather wasn't quite as we
would have wanted it, either. The biggest story of the run was the
participation of Upajukta and Ganagane; the two of them have been appearing with
increasing frequency of late. Andrés Ramón was first in the time of 12:37, an easy victory for him. Andrés is slowly getting back in his former record-breaking shape, and has just recommenced training after taking a break in the aftermath of the 6 day race, which he ran in New York in early May. Ágúst Örn finished in second place at the time of 14:41, and has, by now, nearly monopolised the second place. Davíð came third in the time of 16:02, which is his second best time in the year 2005, but still over 2 minutes slower than his best time ever, which he set last year. Davíð has proclaimed that he will do anything in his power to reach and transcend his personal record, and is very inspired about Sri Chinmoy's words about self-transcendence over competition. Upajukta and Ganagane came fourth and fifth, respectively, and were more concerned about actually finishing the race, than to set new records. Nevertheless, it must be said that they managed to run the second lap in a faster time than the first lap - a rare occurence for them! Results (1-mile split time shown in brackets):
