Tjarnarhlaup 19 July

After having been busy running the World Harmony Run around Iceland for the last two weeks, five determined runners showed up to the Self-Transcendence 2 mile Tjarnarhlaup race last Tuesday.

Rúnar Páll really took the bull by the horns and improved on his best time ever. His improvement: 4 seconds. At first it seemed like Rúnar was going to break 13 minutes, as he ran the first mile in 6:15! However, he slowed down, somewhat, during the second mile. Nevertheless, Rúnar will most assuredly take to heart Sri Chinmoy's philosophy that "slow and steady wins the race" and make further improvements in the future.

Suren came second, and has always come second in the Tjarnarhlaup races of 2005. At the same time that Rúnar Páll is improving, Suren's time has stabilised, and it seems obvious that Suren will have to practice if he is to seriously challenge Rúnar.

Third was Upajukta who finally managed to beat Víðir. Víðir has finished ahead of Upajukta in most races in this year, but this time Upajukta managed to tactically outsmart him.

Last place was taken by Ganagane, and this is a place he has become accustomed to.

Results:
  1. Rúnar Páll 13:14 (6:15)
  2. Suren 13:35 (6:36)
  3. Upajukta 15:07 (7:46)
  4. Víðir 15:32 (7:35)
  5. Ganagane 16:33 (8:13)
