Tjarnarhlaup 12 July
| Last Tuesday, July 12, was a quiet day for the
Self-Transcendence 2 mile Tjarnarhlaup race - the 24th Tjarnarhlaup
race so far this year. Only two participants took part in the race,
running slowly as befitted the day, thus finishing far away from record
times. Of course, there is a natural explanation for all of this. The runners of the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team have been busy for the last two weeks running in the great World Harmony Run around Iceland. And it so happened, that last Tuesday, all runners except the two participants were running somewhere in Ólafsfjörður fjord. The Self-Transcendence Tjarnarhlaup participants, Ágúst and Víðir, were, furthermore, tired after having run in the World Harmony Run in last week and, correctly, decided to take it easy this time. What remains is the fact that they went through the effort of actually showing up and participating. Results (1-mile split time shown in brackets):
