Tjarnarhlaup 29 November

page created by admin last modified 2007-06-27 05:37 AM

There was a good turnout at the Tjarnarhlaup race on 29th of November, but in all there were 5 runners who participated. It was breathtaking to say the least when we saw that Andrés Ramón and Rúnar Páll were going to run after a long break. But they each had a very good reason for their long break. Rúnar was running in the World Harmony Run in Europe since September and Andrés has been busy with his music studies.

Rúnar and Andrés are both in excellent physical shape and it was, therefore, not a suprise to see them battle for the first place.  In the end, Andrés won convincingly.

The third place belonged to Hartmann, which was a very good personal result for him, but last week he achieved a personal record unfortunately.  This time he was only slightly below his new record. It is not easy to make progress every week and we have to have in mind that the philosophy of Sri Chinmoy teaches us that it is best to get progress slowly and steadily.

The competition over the fourth place was most exciting. Víðir and Upajukta fought hard over not ending in the fifth and last place. Víðir was ahead for most of the time, but in the end Upajukta managed to steal the fourth place. Víðir said that stomach pain was the main reason for his slow finish. We humbly acccept Víðir's excuse as all excuse that he makes

But the man of the evening was Ágúst Örn who brought two pizzas for the hungry runners. Everybody praised Ágúst a lot for his generosity

Male result:
  1. Andrés 12:47
  2. Rúnar Páll 13:12
  3. Hartmann 14:21
  4. Upajukta 15:24
  5. Víðir 15:40
