Tjarnarhlaup 21 June
After a good turnout during the last few weeks and a record turnout last week, it came as a bit of a shock to see only three participants in the Self-Transcendence 2 mile Tjarnarhlaup race on June 21. Suren was back after a long absence and won in the time of 13:46. Ágúst put up a hard competition, staying ahead for over half of the race, but Suren, showing the well-masked competitor in himself, went ahead just before the halfway point of the second lap. Thus, Ágúst came second, a familiar position for him. He was only 2 seconds away from his all time best. Víðir was last at the time of 15:45, a time which hardly compares to the times of Suren and Ágúst, but then again, Víðir is a big man whose weight hardly compares to the short and skinny first two. Víðir is thus still quite a bit off his record time, but he is not known to give up, as this is one of the many advices of Sri Chinmoy that Víðir has really taken to heart. So, we may yet see a new personal record from him. Finally, let us not forget to mention Upajukta, who came and photographed with his new mobile phone camera, with all his well-known artistry, and Davíð, who acted as a timekeeper. None complained about his performance (or should I say, none dared complain...?) Results (1-mile split time shown in brackets):
