Tjarnarhlaup 5 July
| Only three runners participated in the Self-Transcendence 2
mile Tjarnarhlaup race last Tuesday, July 5. This unususally low number
is easily explained as many regular runners were busy running the Iceland World Harmony Run. Andrés Ramón achieved an easy victory in the time of 11:55 and is slowly returning to his old form after a virtual rest of two months. We have been hearing rumors that Andrés has been running up to 30 km a day. It is only a question of when he will set a new personal record, for he has taken to heart Sri Chinmoy's philosophy of self-transcendence. Second was Suren in the time of 13:35. Suren has been exploring the role of a runner in the Tjarnarhlaup races of late, which is rather unusual for him, for he has attended nearly every race and almost always as cameraman and sometimes timekeeper as well. Andrés's friend, Raúl, came third in the time of 13:57 - not bad, considering this was his first Tjarnarhlaup race. Raúl kept up with Suren for most of the race, and only gave in during the last few hundred metres. Thus, Raúl should be a runner to watch for in the coming races.
