Rúnar keeps improving
The runners from the Icelandic Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team keep at their homeric struggle with the forces of nature, November 2nd
| Icelandic version Neither darkness nor wetness could deter the three runners who came and participated in the Self-Transcendence 2 mile Tjarnarhlaup race, last Tuesday night, November 2nd. Andrés Ramón achieved a confident victory, finishing at the time of 12:32, and second place was taken by Rúnar Páll Gígja in a time of 14:09, his best time ever. Rúnar's achievement is noteworthy; his best time before was 14:21, set in the race on October 12th, and before that his best time was only 15:25. This means that Rúnar keeps improving in spite of the coming of winter and worsening conditions. Therefore, one can say that Rúnar Páll is a living example of Sri Chinmoy's self-transcendence philosophy. Results (with 1-mile split time shown in brackets): 1. Andrés Ramón 12:32 (6:14) 2. Rúnar Páll Gígja 14:09 (6:50) 3. Víðir Sigurðsson 16:47 (8:03) |
