Sri Chinmoy Yarra Boulevard Half Marathon Race Report
25 September 2005
At The Finish Line
Perfect spring running conditions welcomed the 230 competitors who for the Sri Chinmoy Yarra Boulevard Half Marathon. This flat and smooth closed road course next to the Yarra River is a suburb course for racing that provides every opportunity for fast times.
With only 2 weeks till the Melbourne Marathon many some competitors decided to use the event as a their last 10 km hit out while others ran a more conservative half marathon as a final litmus test to their preparations for the big day.
As expected the 10 km run produced the most competitive times for the day with Andrew White taking out line honours in a very respectable 32.54 and Kylie Dick winning the women’s race in a very fast 36.37 which we believe is a personnel best time. Special mention must also go to Chris Hamer to won the 5km race in 15.40.
Results from the days proceeding are now posted on the website and photos will be published in gallery shortly. We would to thank Aldo Montalto from the Gym and Sports Warehouse at 888 Mt Alexander Rd, Essendon for providing all the spot prizes.
If you have any feedback you would like to provide to us from this or any of our events please send an email to us at melbourne@srichinmoyraces.org. We are always looking to fine tune our events and make further improvements.
Our next event is the Sri Chinmoy Maribrynong River Run incorporating 5 and 10 km distances on Sunday November 6. Please note that this event was initially publicised for November 13 but due to the clash with another large event we have moved the date one week forward.
The event is on a brand new 5km loop course along the beautiful Maribrynong River that starts at at Rippleside Park, Moonee Ponds at 8AM. Further information and online entry is available. We look forward to seeing you all there.
Best wishes to all those running in the marathon next week.
