Sri Chinmoy Maribyrnong Race Report

Moonee Ponds, 6 November 2005

At The Finish Line

The Maribyrnong River has often played second fiddle to her more well known sister the Yarra, but on Sunday November 6 the tables were turned as the majestic Maribyrnong played host to it's first Sri Chinmoy race.

On a perfectly constructed 4km circuit connected by 2 bridge crossings, over 100 runners and walkers tackled their choice of the 4, 8 and 12km distances.

The standout performance of the morning was Dave Manning's time of 27.41 for the 8km run. A full list of all results from the day and photos are now available online.

Many commented how refreshing it was to run in a completely new area, while a number of local enthusiasts experienced their first Sri Chinmoy race. With all this positive feedback from the morning we have vowed to make this an annual pilgrimage to the banks of the picturesque Maribyrnong.

The only downside for the day was that the pancakes ran out too early.  Therefore we will ensure that there is ample pancakes for our final run of the year at Williamstown Beach on Sunday December 11.

We look forward to seeing you all there.

Happy training
