Sri Chinmoy Running & Fitness Festival

Congratulations to all those who participated in the 2008 Sri Chinmoy Running & Fitness Festival. Next year's event is scheduled for Sunday May 31, 2009. The Sri Chinmoy Running & Fitness Festival is our premier race on the Melbourne Running Calender. Choose from the four distances on offer. You will discover that Williamstown is the perfect place for a run or walk followed by some well deserved relaxation after your race.

The Event

Sunday 25 May 2008 at 8AM

Races on offer include

  • Marathon (42.2km)
  • Half marathon (21.1km)
  • 10km
  • 4km



The Course

All events start from the Williamstown Athletics Track, corner The Strand and North Rd, Newport (Melways 56B4) at 8AM, Sunday 25 May.

The event is conducted on a scenic waterfront course along roads and bike paths through Williamstown, Newport and Altona taking in the signts and sounds of sights and sounds of The Strand, Nelson Place, Williamstown Beach and the Altona Wetlands.

The course is flat, fast and ideally suited for personnel best times.

A number of improvements have been made to the marathon course. Updated course maps, pre race information and a full course description are now available.

A full course briefing will be conducted at 7.50AM on race day.

Online entries have now closed.

Entry if now available on the day from 6.30AM at the Williamstown Athletics Track.

Marathon - $95 (conc $85)

Half Marathon - $70 (conc $60)

10km - $35 (conc $25)

4km - $30 (conc $20)

 



 

Entry Details

  • Concession rates are for U16 and 60+ entrants only and are not available online.
  • Please note that credit card and cheque payments can not be taken on race day.
  • All entry fees are inclusive of GST
  • Confirm your pre-entry by viewing the competitor list.
  • Registration packs including course map, race number and pre event information will be mailed out to all pre registered competitors from 1 May.
  • Entrants who register after Friday 16 May will be required to pick up their race number from the registration tent on race morning between 6.30 and 7.30AM.

Chip Timing in 2008.

  • This year all competitors will be provided with individual timing chips to record their times.
  • The chips are worn as an ankle strap for the duration of the event.
  • All competitors will be required to pick their timing chip from the Timing Chip Distribution Marquee on race morning between 6.30 and 7.45AM.

Event Features

  • A flat and fast traffic managed course measured to AA standards with markers every km.
  • Timing by Blue Chip Timing.
  • ENDURA drink stations every 2.5 km equipped with electrolyte, fruit, coke and water
  • Spot prizes and giveaways courtesy of Reebok, Endura and Lifestyle Fitness.
    All competitors finish with a lap of the Williamstown Athletics Track
  • Our complimentary post race breakfast including pancakes, Orgran pasta, soup and our famous apple crumble
  • First aid services are provided by St Johns Ambulance.
  • Toilets are available at the start/finish area at the Williamstown Athletics Track and additional are also located at several points along the course.
  • After the event relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of Nelson Place.



Volunteers

If you are coming down to Williamstown to support a friend or family member or would like to lend a hand, we are looking for indivduals who would like to assist as course marshals or aid station attendants, on the course.

As a volunteer for the Festival, you would be required from 7.15AM till 9.30AM (some positions are for even less time). For your efforts we will provide you with a marshal vest and goody bag of food and drink to help you on your way.

Race Merchandise

This year a commemorative Cool Dry T-Shirt from the Festival is also available for purchase. The garment is made from high quality cooldry material and is available in a range of male and female sizes.

Limited stocks will be available for purchase on race day.

 

 

 

Award Categories

  • Trophies will be award to the top 3 male & female competitors in each event.
  • Medallions for the top 3 male & female competitors in the following age categories for each event.
    • Age U14 years (First, Second & Third) #Distances 5km or less.
    • Age U17 years (First, Second & Third) #Distances 10km or less.
    • Age 18-39 years (First, Second & Third)
    • Age 40-49 years (First, Second & Third)
    • Age 50-59 years (First, Second & Third)
    • Age 60-69 years (First, Second & Third)
    • Age 70-79 years (First, Second & Third)
    • Age 80+ years (First, Second & Third)
  • Commemorative medals will be awarded to all marathon finishers.
  • Marathoners completing their 10th Sri Chinmoy Williamstown Marathon are also eligable for a special award.
  • Please note Sri Chinmoy Races no longer offers awards for walk categories.

Race History

The Sri Chinmoy Running & Fitness Festival has had illustrious 12 year history and is one of the few events able to combine 6 different races, and a full post race breakfast for all competitors on the one day. Check out what the previous participants have said.

The Sri Chinmoy Running & Fitness Festival is largest running event staged by Sri Chinmoy Races internationally with a field of over 1200 in 2007.
