Sri Chinmoy Passes Away: Changes to Triathlon Festival
Spiritual teacher Sri Chinmoy passed away suddenly at his home in New York, aged 76.
Sri Chinmoy, founder of the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team and the inspiration behind Sri Chinmoy Races worldwide, has passed away suddenly on Thursday 11 October.Several of our Australian event organisers are presently in New York attending memorial functions and services honouring Sri Chinmoy's lifetime of inspiration and service.
For this reason, this month's Sri Chinmoy Triathlon Festival has been reduced from 3 days to 2. Friday's Sri Chinmoy Junior Joyathons have been canceled to enable us to focus the necessary attention on Saturday's and Sunday's races. The Sri Chinmoy Off-Road Triathlon, Open Joyathon, Sprint Triathlon, 'Classic' Tri and Champions Challenge all remain on the program.
All remaining scheduled Sri Chinmoy Races for 2007 will proceed as advertised.
We regret the disappointment to those who have already entered the Primary or Secondary Junior Joyathons, who will now receive full refunds.
Good news for the Festival is the average water temperature in Lake Burley Griffin last week was nearly 20C, and rising.
Due to these late changes, the deadline for receipt of early entries online for all races of the Festival has been extended to 6 pm next Monday 22 October.
Thank you for your understanding. We will be back in Canberra next Monday and look forward to your company for the 25th Sri Chinmoy Triathlon Festival at Yarralumla Bay, now less than two weeks away.
