Sri Chinmoy Peace Triathlon Course Description

Swim - The swim begins with a deep-water start off the beach. You
will be directed to move into the water for the race starters signal. At
the "go", swim out and around the first buoy, keeping it on your
right.
The swim course is in an anti-clockwise direction. Keep all the remaining buoys to your left. Following the marker buoys, head straight out towards Telstra Tower. The next buoy is over towards Black Mountain Peninsula. The last buoy is off the western end of Spinnaker Island. Swim all the way back to the beach exit. From the beach, pass through the timing point in the swim/cycle chute, making your way to the transition compound for the start of the cycle leg.

Cycle
-KEEP TO THE LEFT AT ALL TIMES UNLESS OVERTAKING - DRAFTING IS NOT
PERMITTED. The course consists of two loops.
Head east along Alexandrina Drive, proceed straight
through the roundabout at Flynn Dr onto Coronation Dr and then turn
left onto Commonwealth Ave.
After crossing Commonwealth Avenue Bridge, take the exit ramp to Parkes Way.
Continue
west along Parkes Way, staying to the left, until you merge with
Tuggeranong Parkway.Take the second Lady Denman Dr exit ramp to the
left (you may have to ride between cones/barricades which are placed to
keep cars out). Turn right, at the bottom of the ramp (slow down as
this is a very sharp right turn), you ride through the underpass in the
ride hand lane. Turn right at the T-junction. This will take you back
onto Tuggeranong Parkway, but heading in the opposite direction
(effectively a U-turn).
Keep to the left - following the
overhead signs to Belconnen - and onto William Hovell Dr. Continue
along William Hovell Dr, then turn left at Coppins Crossing Rd.
Exercise extreme caution! There is a steep descent, followed by a sharp
right turn to cross the Molonglo River. Slow down on the descent, or
you will end up in the river!
Turn left into Uriarra Rd
following it to Cotter Rd where you turn left and follow it through the
Streeton Dr intersection and the Kirkpatrick St roudabout to turn left
at the access ramp onto Tuggeranong Parkway. Turn left off Tuggeranong
Parkway at the exit to Lady Denman Drive (you may have to ride between
cones/barricades which are placed to keep cars out), then right,
keeping to the right hand side of the road through the underpass (slow
down as this is a VERY sharp right turn). You make one more sharp right
hand turn to follow the entry ramp to Tuggeranong Parkway heading south.
Follow Tuggeranong Parkway eventually turning left at Cotter Rd.
Follow
Cotter Rd until it becomes an entry ramp onto Adelaide Ave. Follow
Adelaide Ave to State Circle. Turn left at State Circle, then left
again at Flynn Dr. Please approach the roundabout with caution, as you
make a sharp left turn into Alexandrina Dr for the final stretch back
to Yarralumla Bay. Turn around and complete the same loop again.

Run - 2 LAPS OF 10km LOOP COURSE. Exit the cycle compound from the western end, following
Alexandrina Dr, truning right onto the cycle path near the intersection with past Novar St.
Follow the cycle path across Weston Park Rd, then turn left to run
up the right hand side of Weston Park Rd which soon becomes Banks St. Follow Banks St into Maxwell
St, across Denman St, and head onto a small trail into the bush.
Follow this bush trail, which curves to the right, coming out at the
top of Dunrossil Dr. Turn right, and follow the right hand side
of Dunrossil Dr, towards the Governor-General’s residence.
Turn right at the cycle path, following it along the Sri Chinmoy Peace
Mile (through Westbourne Woods), all the way to Weston Park Rd. Turn
left and follow Weston Park Rd, past Pescott Lane all the way to the
end. Loop around the natural turn-around, returning on the left hand
side of Weston Park Rd.
After emerging from Weston Park, turn left onto the cycle path, cross
the road that leads into the boat sheds, then turn left onto
Alexandrina Dr, following it back to the compound. Turn around and complete the loop again. At the completion of this second loop, tirn into the the car park leading to the finish
