25th Sri Chinmoy Triathlon Festival, Canberra: 27 - 28 October 2007

Celebrating the 25th edition of the Sri Chinmoy Triathlon Festival in Canberra, now at the start of a new season. The total triathlon package, with 7 races over 3 days (reduced to races in 2 days in 2007), a sumptuous banquet of triathlon for athletes and spectators - from Children's races, a Novice event, Off-Road race, Sprint and Olympic distances right up to the Sri Chinmoy Champions Challenge. For the first time, the Sri Chinmoy Joyathon (Open) joins the Sri Chinmoy Sprint Triathlon on Saturday afternoon. All the action revolves around the sublime Yarralumla Bay, utilising Canberra's superb network of roads and lakeside running trails. All races are open to solo athletes and relay teams of 2 or 3 members. Secure online entry is open now for all events. The best courses, friendly service, great atmosphere... triathlon racing at its finest.

Sri Chinmoy Champions Challenge
Sunday 28 October, 7 am: Swim 3.2 km, Cycle 120 km, Run 30 km
Sri Chinmoy 'Classic' Tri
Sunday 28 October, 9 am: Swim 1.5 km, Cycle 40 km, Run 10 km
Sri Chinmoy Sprint Triathlon
Saturday 27 October, 3.30 pm: Swim 500 metres, Cycle 21 km, Run 5 km
Sri Chinmoy Joyathon (Open)
Saturday 27 October, 2.30 pm: Swim 200 metres, Cycle 7 km, Run 2 km
Sri Chinmoy Off-Road Triathlon
Saturday 27 October, 8 am: Swim 680 metres, Mountain Bike 25 km, Run 5 km
Sri Chinmoy Junior Joyathon (Secondary Ages) - CANCELLED

Sri Chinmoy Champions Challenge

Swim 3.2 km, Cycle 120 km, Run 30 km
Sunday 28 October, 7 am

Inside everyone is a champion waiting for the right challenge... Especially for lovers of the longer distance, the Sri Chinmoy Champions Challenge offers the perfect stepping stone between Long-Course and the full IM distance. Swim in a large arc around Spinnaker Island, enjoy a comprehensive cycle tour of the Canberra hinterland, capped by a 2-lap lakeside run. An ideal challenge for those preparing to go even further




Sri Chinmoy 'Classic' Triathlon

Swim 1.5 km, Cycle 40 km, Run 10 km
Sunday 28 October, 9 am

One of Australia's premier Olympic distance events, run concurrently with the Champions Challenge. The 'Classic' Tri offers a course for the connoiseurs: swim once around Spinnaker Island, cycle over the famed Coppins Crossing loop, then run through the delightful Westbourne Woods and Weston Park. A race rich in atmosphere and bound to satisfy on every level.

Sri Chinmoy Sprint Triathlon

Swim 500 metres, Cycle 21 km, Run 5 km
Saturday 27 October, 3.30 pm

Returning by popular demand to its original Saturday afternoon time slot, the Sri Chinmoy Sprint Triathlon has been a favourite for nearly 2 decades, for its fast course and famous service. Target the course records of Greg Welch and Michellie Jones, or be happy in the achievement of finishing.

Sri Chinmoy Off-Road Triathlon

Swim 680 metres, Mountain Bike 25 km, Cross-Country Run 5 km
Saturday 27 October, 8 am

Get out the mountain bike and enjoy a genuine bush race in the heart of the city! A great hit-out before Sunday's racing or the feature event of the weekend, depending on your preference. Swim across the lake, cycle through the native forest of Black Mountain Reserve and finish with a testing cross-country run.

Sri Chinmoy Joyathon (Open)

Swim 200 metres, Cycle 7 km, Run 2 km
Saturday 27 October, 2.30 pm

A race designed for novices and all those looking for an adrenalin rush before Sunday's longer races. Either race all 3 legs solo, or get a team of friends or workmates together to try one leg each - the swim, the cycle, the run. A new time slot on Saturday aftternoon as a prelude to the Sri Chinmoy Sprint Triathlon: as the name suggests, it's all about participation and fun.

Sri Chinmoy Junior Joyathon - for Secondary Schools

CANCELLED FOR 2007

Swim 200 metres, Cycle 7 km, Run 2 km

Can any school match it with Daramalan? Schools are encouraged to bring their own marquees, racing outfits and cheer squads. Students can enter through their school, or privately (parental permission is required for all entrants under 18 years of age). Age divisions for solo athletes are Under 14, 14 - 15, and 16 and over. Divisions for teams are calculated on combined age of the team members.

Sri Chinmoy Junior Joyathon - for Primary Schools

CANCELLED FOR 2007

Swim 80 metres, Cycle 3.5 km, Run 800 metres

Canberra's first children-only triathlon! The ideal race for first-time participants or seasoned competitors. Children can enter through their school, or privately through their parents. Take on either the swim, the cycle or the run in a 3-person team, or complete the whole race as a solo triathlete. Age divisions for solo athletes are Under 9, 9 - 10, and 11 and over. Divisions for teams are calculated on combined age of the team members.
