Sri Chinmoy Barwon River Run

The Event

Sunday 2 March at 9AM

  • 18km Run
  • 12km Run
  • 6km Run



The Course

All races start from King Lloyd Recreation Reserve, Windsor Rd, Newtown, Geelong, (Melways Ref 451E8) at 9AM on Sunday March 2

The event is conducted along a undulating, traffic tree lined 6km loop-course along the picturesque Barwon River, with full runner services.

The 6km, 12km & 18km runs complete 1, 2 or 3 laps of the 6km loop course.

Competitors will have 2.5 hours to complete the course.

A full course briefing will be conducted at 8.55AM on race day.

How to Enter

You can enter online or on the day between 8AM and 8.45AM.

Online

18km Run - $20

12km Run & 6km races - $15

On the Day

18km Run - $25 ($20 conc).

12km Run & 6km races - $20 ($15 conc).

Entry Details

  • Concession rates are for U16 and 60+ entrants only and are not available online.
  • Please note that credit card and cheque payments can not be taken on race day.
  • All entry fees are inclusive of GST
  • Registration packs will be mailed out to all pre registered competitors who enter by Friday 22 February. Later pre-entrants can pick up their race number from the registration tent on race morning from 8AM.


Services

  • Accurate AA measured traffic free course with markers every km
  • Drink stations every 3.0km equipped with electrolyte and water
  • Our famous post race pancake breakfast
  • First aid services are provided by St Johns Ambulance.
  • Toilets are available at King Lloyd Reserve adjacent to the start/finish and at Queens Park Bridge along the course.

Award Categories

  • Medallions for the top 3 male & female competitors in the following age categories for each event.
  • Age U18 years (First, Second & Third)
  • Age 18-49 years (First, Second & Third)
  • Age 50-59 years (First, Second & Third)
  • Age 60-69 years (First, Second & Third)
  • Age 70-79 years (First, Second & Third)
  • Age 80+ years (First, Second & Third)
  • Please note Sri Chinmoy Races no longer offers awards for walk categories.

Race History

There has been a rich history of Sri Chinmoy Races in the Geelong region dating back to the 80's and 90's with triathlons at Queenscliff and Eastern Beach, to the well known fruit-loops runs at Eastern Gardens in the late 80's to early '90's.

2008 marks the third occasion that this event has been staged on the Barwon River.Why not see how your times match up with the current course records.

A second event in Geelong, The Sri Chinmoy Geelong Foreshore Run will be held at Rippleside Park on Sunday November 9 2008.
