Transition Six - Hatchery Bay
The course arrives on land for the second time - now amidst the milder and more open terrain of the western shore.
Driving Instructions from Stinky Bay to Hatchery Bay
(allow 15 minutes driving.)
Exit via the dirt access road from Stinky Bay and turn RIGHT onto Cobbon Cres, then LEFT on Townsend St and immediately RIGHT onto Banjo Patterson Cres. Then turn RIGHT at Kosciuszko Rd. Follow this through and out of town.
About 2 kms past the Alpine Way (to
Thredbo) turn-off, look for the Hatchery Bay road on your RIGHT, which
is directly opposite the road leading into the Gaden Trout
Hatchery. Follow this dirt road all the way down to the beach and
park along the beachfront.
From this transition, you will need to continue on your mountain bike, crossing one fence and going cross-country about 700 metres, following the shoreline around towards Minnehaha Point and onto the formed trails.
This transition point has changed since the race was first staged in 2005.
