Driving Instructions
The start of the Sri Chinmoy Googong Challenge is located 30 minutes drive from central Canberra. The finish is 25 minutes drive further south.
Driving from Canberra to the Start - First drive to
Queanbeyan. If coming in the direction from the airport, after
arriving in Queanbeyan, turn left at Lowe St. If coming from
Canberra Ave, turn right at Lowe St. Once on Lowe St, take the
first right hand turn at the roundabout onto Cooma St. Follow
Cooma St all the way through town, until it becomes Old Cooma Rd.
About 8 kms after the Lowe St roundabout, you will come to the turn-off
on your left to Googong Dam. Follow this road in past the
dam. Do not drive all the way to the dam look-out point, instead
turn to your right at the sign to the Foreshores Car Park.
From the Start to the Finish at London Bridge Woolshed - Drive back the way you came, 6 kms out to the Old Cooma Rd. Turn left here, heading south. After 4 kms on Old Cooma Rd, look for the turn-off to Burra on your left. Turn here onto Burra Rd. After 7.9 kms, look for another turn-off to your left, which is London Bridge Rd. Follow this road for 3.4 kms, the last 2 kms of which is on dirt. You will pass through one gate which may or may not be open. If it is closed, be sure to close it again behind you. Do not make any turns into private property or to the Tin Hut car park. You will arrive at the London Bridge Woolshed car park. Follow instructions of parking marshals.
