In 2004, Abichal became the first runner from the United Kingdom to complete the 3100 miler, finishing in 55 days, 8 hours, an average of 56+ miles per day. In 2005 he finished in 57 days,12 hours. Last year he made it three in a row, finishing in 58 days,16 hours. In 2003, with little time for preparation, Abichal entered the race and ran 2747 miles in 53 days, averaging 52.01 miles (84.02 km) per day. In thirteen years of running, Abichal has completed 30 ultras, including eight Ten-Day races. His best for that event is 540 miles. Abichal has run 700 miles in 11 days 23 hours. In 2002 he ran 827 miles in the 1000 mile race. Abichal is an aspiring poet,with six books of his works in print. He is also the editor of a new website:Multidays.com., editor of the Multiday Running magazine,and author and editor of Multiday Runner’s Handbook,which is available in print.
